Experience
I am a science teacher with a passion to help people better understand the world around them. I have a master's degree in teaching science and a bachelor's in zoology. I was also recently recognized by the National Science Teachers Academy as a New Science Teaching Fellow. I am the current Secretary of the Iowa Science Teachers Section and have had the privileged of getting an article published in the Iowa Science Teacher's Journal. I work hard to make abstract science concepts concrete via hands-on experiences and detailed explanations. The best environment for students to learn is when they are highly engaged.Prior to pursuing teaching, I tutored individuals of various ages in English as a second language. I love helping people practice speaking, develop stronger grammar and vocabulary and become proud of their abilities. I appreciated this time in my life so much that two of my young students were in my wedding (flower girl and ring barer). I will enjoy reading, researching, correcting, discussing and learning with you!
I would appreciate the opportunity to help you in whatever avenues you wish to pursue. I look forward to us learning together!
Hobbies
I love to spend time doing science education and curriculum development (nerdy I know), spending time with friends, cooking, traveling and being outside.Inquire about this tutor
